why b.i.s.d. theatre?

because theatre arts prepares us for success . . .

1. improvisation

theatre teaches us how to focus while giving the impression we’ve got it under control.

2. project management

we work in groups of people making up one team to successfully accomplish the task on time. this allows the opportunity to earn applause of  an appreciative audience . . .  if we work harder, perhaps a standing ovation!

3. working with a limited budget

we have performed amazing productions with limited resources. this reinforces an optimistic outlook while making us a valuable asset.

4. understanding the human condition

the better we understand the part we are playing, the better we understand ourselves. this  leads us to develop our character at being a better student, employee, and the ultimate friend.

5. hard work

we created an amazing life-like tree that emerged from the stage and looked as if it disappeared into the ceiling. we cut out thousands upon thousands upon thousands of leaves and hot-glued them to the branches. sleepless nights and burnt fingers got the tree done. but, we got it done. it was fabulous! a few days later we tore it down, threw it out, and got ready for the next production.

6. making difficult choices

any business person will tell you that difficult decisions must be made. the higher the position the harder the decisions. theatre gives us a taste of what will happen in our career and our life.

7. presentation skills

we are taught to stand up confidently in front of a group of people and capably, effectively communicate. we are able to motivate and even provide a little entertainment along the way!  we are among the rarest individuals in the business world.

8. doing the best with what we’ve got

in theatre we create magic moments that transfix an audience.  we don’t need a stage in life, the latest technology, the best system, or the greatest whiz bang doo-dads. theatre teaches us to do our best and commit to a resolve. what more could we ask of our life?
